Tara's Style | As an award-winning fine artist, Tara's portrait photography captures life by documenting a range of emotions and the little nuances that are unique to her subjects. Tara's work is best described as emotive, honest and compelling as she focuses on the beauty of the human spirit and the connections within her subjects' relationships.
Classically trained as a film photographer, Tara explores different styles of photography including modern studio, urban outdoors and storytelling lifestyle so she can offer a range of photographic experiences to her clients. Her photography sessions are not pre-scripted and are approached with an artistic eye. While Tara helps direct her young adults and group sessions with gentle styling and positioning, her children and baby sessions are more casual and relaxed, influenced simply by them. Tara's goal is to give each client a completely custom experience that captures the human spirit and in turn creates timeless works of art.
Your Session |
Beforehand Tara will talk with you about the type of photography you are looking for. To learn a little more about the types of sessions she offers, please see the FAQ and Session section which illustrates the different styles. The session can take place in Tara's studio or on-location (house, beach, park, city streets, alley, forest, orchard,). Tara's studio is idyllically located close to the shore of Lake Ontario and several conservation and forest areas (which hosts a bridge and stream). If time and weather permit it may be possible to do both in-studio and on-location near the studio.
The Experience | Please contact Tara early to book your session as she is often booked for weeks to months in advance. If you are expecting a baby and wish to take either pregnancy or newborn portraits, it is never too early to book your baby photography. The Newborn age is such a short time period that you want to ensure you capture those poses that are unique to newborns. Ideally newborns are photographed before they are eight days old. Tara prebooks newborns, tentatively booking a date. The session is then confined once the baby makes his/her arrival. Tara will adjust her schedule to accommodate the baby. While some exceptions may be made for last-minute newborns, not all sessions can be accommodated. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
As each session is unique and customized, Tara talk to you before your session to discuss the style of your portraits and location for your session. Clothing choices reflect the final look of your pictures so care will be taken to discuss your options. Upon receipt of your deposit, a detailed information packet will be sent to you which includes information to help you with your clothing suggestions. Tara understands that illnesses occur so if you need to reschedule, please call prior to two hours before your scheduled shoot so as not to lose your deposit.
Ordering your Artwork | After your session, an ordering appointment will be made to show you your images and place your order. Appointments generally occur about three weeks after your session in the loft studio and last about two hours. We ask that children be left at home as this creates a more focued and relaxing experience.
You will be given an online gallery one week before your appointment to review your order. This gallery will only be available for seven days without exception. Beforehand you will be provided with a worksheet to help you organize your favourites and plan for which albums you want and where you want prints and arrangemets to hang. Please bring this worksheet back to the appointment so that we can help you select the best sizes for your space.
Only reorders of $350 or more are accepted after the ordering date so come ready with all selections, including family members' orders. Prints will be ready approximately three-four weeks after the order is placed. Allow a little more time for albums and canvases due to the specialty of these items. Please review the policies page for additional information. |
