Newborns are clearly one of Tara's favorite subjects and over the years, she has become known for her artistic style and creative newborn work. She loves the unique way they bend, their tiny details and the love between parent and child. Tara knows how important it is to capture these fleeting moments and prides in her ability to capture the true newborn spirit.
What age | Tara ideally photographs her newborns within the first three to eight days of life when they are tiny, bend and love to sleep. While she can work with older newborns, they tend to not sleep as soundly or curl as a younger newborn does and if they are subject to colic or acne, it is at this time when that develops. Most of the images seen in the newborn gallery are of babies 10 days and under.
Your session | After you book your session Tara will send you a detailed newborn guide to help you prepare yourself and the baby for the session. Feeding, clothing and preparing baby are all covered in this guide. Newborn sessions generally last two and can be up to four hours, allowing plenty of time to feed and comfort. Unless pre-arranged, newborn sessions are done at Tara's studio which is equipped with climate control and complete access to all props (baskets, materials, hats) and backdrops.
Prior to the session, Tara will consult with you to see what session style you are interested in. Generally Tara photographs more than one style during a newborn session so that you receive a variety of looks and style that document your newest love.
Booking your Newborn Session | Contact Tara as early as possible in your pregnancy as she is often booked three or more weeks in advance. Tara prebooks newborns, tentatively booking a date and then confirming the session once the baby makes his/her arrival. Tara will adjust her schedule to accommodate the baby as soon as possible. While some exceptions may be made for last-minute newborns, not all sessions can be accommodated. We recommend that you please book early to avoid disappointment.
